This is the second book in the A Cider Shop Mystery by Julie Anne Lindsey.
I am totally digging this series. And this one left off on a cliffhanger and I am so ready for book three!
Basic premise: Someone else has died on the Cider House ground during a wedding service and it just happened to be the groom! Winnie gets caught up in the whodunit much to Sheriff Colton's dismay.
This book was particularly well done. I am in awe of her plotting skills. There are even far reaching consequences show up here that won't be dealt with until book three. I loved the back and forth between the sheriff and Winnie. You never know what Colton has on his mind or what his intentions are where Winnie is concerned. By the end you know his true feelings and it gave me all the feels.
The mystery aspect was a bit mind boggling but it totally made sense when it all washed out in the end. A lot of the threads to what was truly going on happened near the last half and if you tend to skim, don't do that with this book or you will be lost for sure. This is one amazing read!
Even though I hated the character of Hank in the beginning, he started to grow on me with his annoying ability to keep popping up when Winnie least expected him. The cast is just spot on and continues to deliver with quirky and interesting populating this Cider universe.
I am a bit saddened we never learned of the outcome of how Winnie did in the national Cider contest but I am sure that will come up in a future book. How can it not, right? I like how the author gave some background to Colton in this book making like him even more than we did originally. Always a good thing. New favorite series, for sure! Be sure and give this one a try if you love cozy mysteries. You won’t be disappointed.
