4 Stars

If you want to write a cozy mystery, this sure does give you a place to start. I almost wish this was more of a workbook so we could read alone and follow the exercises as we go… jotting down all the insights we get right on the spot.

You can expand the use of this book to any type of fiction writing. There are a lot of good cozy tips but this book is for the writer and any tips and insights we receive are like gold. I wish this book had been longer going more into the process in detail. But this is a great overview book. I particularly liked the suggestions about heroes and villains.

If you are a plotter or a pantser, you can get some use out of a small book like this. Pair it with your favorite “how to write a darn good mystery” book and you are definitely set.

If you are a writer and want to know a little more about the cozy process, defintely check this book out.
