But when they try to identify some plant and animal life, they find death instead. The body belongs to a man with a gold claim a few miles away. Instead of striking it rich, he’s been struck down.

This is the sixth book in the Cat Latimer mystery series by Lynn Cahoon.
Cat Latimer , published author of a number of popular young adult fantasy novels, supplements her income and runs a popular writer’s retreat in her bed and breakfast. Her boyfriend, Seth has a reunion with some of his military buddies and when they go to the retreat during a hiking trip, one of his ole mates he thought to be dead was dead again!
When her Uncle Pete investigates the crime, he makes Seth one of the main person’s of interest. Cat needs to make sure that Seth is cleared of the crime all the while trying to put on a successful writer’s retreat.
Lynn Cahoon never ceases to captivate us with her storytelling. I was enthralled the entire way through. The ending is pretty nice and I won’t spoil it here. Just make sure you read all the way to the end for a delightful treat!
In this installment, the guests weren’t so much the focus as was many of the recurring characters like Shirley from Alaska who is sweet on Cat’s Uncle Pete and of course, Seth and his buddies from the military.
This was just a great book all around. I love this writers retreat mystery. It always makes me want to pull out my notebook and start writing down story ideas.
If you love a good cozy mystery, definitely check this one out. You won’t be disappointed.
I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.
