The Wild Heir (Royal Romance #2) by Karina Halle

The Wild Heir

Paperback, 1st Edition, 406 pages
Published May 17th 2018 by CreateSpace (first published May 16th 2018)

Goodreads synopsis:
At first glance I probably seem like any good-looking guy in their late twenties. I have an obscene amount of confidence, a tattooed body sculpted by the Nordic gods, and I love the ladies as much as they love me.  If I’m not BASE jumping or car racing, I’m chasing other devious thrills with the woman of the week. And that’s fine if you’re the average single guy. But I'm not the average single guy. I’m Crown Prince Magnus of Norway and my latest scandal just landed my entire royal family in hot water.

Now the only way the monarchy can save face is for me to smarten up – publicly. If I don’t, I’ll no longer be heir apparent to the throne. So it’s either I abdicate my future role as King or…
I get married. To a blue-blooded stranger.

Enter Princess Isabella of the tiny country of Liechtenstein.

Quiet, intelligent, and uniquely beautiful, Ella doesn’t like this arrangement any more than I do and she’s not afraid to show it. She says I’m a womanizer, that I don’t take anything seriously, that my ego should be taken down a few pegs, and I think she aims to make me miserable for the rest of my life.

But even as our arranged marriage becomes a war of wit and words, I’m determined to break through Ella’s prim and proper façade to find the wild , sexual and risk-taking woman underneath. I want to uncover the Queen inside her.

The only question is – will she let me?

**The Wild Heir is a standalone royal romance and a spinoff of The Swedish Prince but it is not necessary to read that book beforehand as The Wild Heir is about different characters**

4.5 Stars

This book is not what I expected it to be. But I was pleasantly surprised. Based on the cover I thought this was erotica. Great cover, btw. This was totally a cover buy for me. I am not usually the person who reads erotica but I wanted to take a chance on this. Goodreads says it is Romance, Contemporary and New Adult. I would agree with that.

Yes, there is sex but not erotica sex. Although, this could hold its own with some of the better trashy books.

This was a fun book to read and I was enthralled by Ella and Magnus. I even had my device down to 15% and thought I would only read a few minutes more and then before I knew it my device shut down on me. I was captivated by the storyline. And it wasn’t just the main characters, it was the minor characters too. The King of Norway who was not feeling well, The standoff-ish King of Liechtenstein, the Prime Ministers daughter (not my fav but she provided some good conflict), and the mother of Magnus. Not to mention the two companions who always accompanied Magnus and Ella. I felt like I really knew these people. I was invested in this world and what was happening. I love it when that happens with a book.

I will definitely check out the other two books in this series, THE SWEDISH PRICE and A NORDIC KING.

Recommended.
