Memories and Murder (Tourist Trap Mysteries #10) by Lynn Cahoon

Memories and Murder

Kindle Edition
Expected publication: November 12th 2019 by Lyrical Underground

Goodreads synopsis:
It’s October in South Cove, California, and the locals in the quaint resort seem to be happily pairing off in the lull before the holidays. Everyone, that is, except for Jill Gardner’s elderly aunt, who just dumped her besotted fiancé—and she won’t say why.

When Jill hosts a talk at Coffee, Books, and More on the topic of elder abuse, all that’s really on her mind is lunch. But the topic hits close to home when she discovers Aunt Jackie has been getting mysterious calls. Jill’s certain the caller is a con artist, of course, but her feisty aunt claims to understand this, though she’s still shaken—and Harrold’s still heartbroken. Who’s behind the scam and why was her aunt targeted? When a volunteer from the Senior Project is found murdered, Jill’s detective boyfriend is on the case—and it soon becomes clear no one is safe when a caller from beyond becomes a killer in their midst.

4.5 Stars

This is the tenth book in the Tourist Trap mystery series by Lynn Cahoon.

This is my guilty pleasure series! I am so excited to dive back into the Tourist Trap saga with a full novel. Cahoon has been teasing us with novellas for the last few releases. So seeing this made my heart cheer!

In some ways I felt like I should have gone back and read the last few novel length books. I was shocked that Toby had broken up with his girl. When did that happen? Maybe I blocked it out. I always want these characters to have their dreams. And Jill and Greg are now officially living together and in some ways he is more closed mouthed than ever regarding his police cases. Thank goodness for her friendly neighborhood psychic, Esmerelda who always seems to keep Jill clued in on who’s who and what’s what.

We didn’t spend too much time at Coffee, Books and More during this read which made me frown but isn’t always as necessary as my brain thinks it should be. I liked seeing the newer barista/employee, Deek Kerr show up so often. And due to his breakup, Toby is still taking up residence in the shed out back he has fashioned into his own version of a man cave. This series has such a cool cast that every time I pick up a new book I feel like I am coming home.

The main thrust of the story within features Jill’s Aunt Jackie. She has broken up with her beau, Harrold, owner of The Train Station, on the eve of their coming nuptials. Jackie is getting phone calls from a man who claims he is her dead husband come to life. Jill is worried Jackie might be sending this masquerade man money and keeping her on the hook in his nefarious scheme. So it is up to Jill to prove to Jackie that her husband is truly dead and that Harrold is the perfect man to walk down the isle with. She is on the case.

This is a must read series for me. So jump on the reading train with me and travel to the tourist trap town of South Cove. Stay a little while. Read all the previous  books. Get caught up. A reading marathon is always a good thing. Start with book one, GUIDEBOOK TO MURDER.

If you love cozy mysteries, then definitely pick up this series. Cahoon also has another series that is equally as obsession-worthy featuring Cat Latimer. You can’t go wrong with any of Lynn Cahoon’s series. She keeps me up at night reading the hours away!

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.
