by Sariah Wilson

Kindle Edition, 312 pages

Published November 21st 2017 by Kindle Press

Goodreads synopsis:

Once upon a time…

Recent college grad Emma Damon knows the Rose Room in Hartley Hall is off limits, which is exactly why she can’t wait to get inside. Once she enters the forbidden room, Emma learns more about the history of the museum than she ever intended to know.

Waking up confused and shocked in 1816, all Emma wants is to return to her cozy home with flushing toilets and disposable razors. But when she’s mistaken for someone else, Emma must pretend to be everything she’s not. About to be engaged to the Earl of Hartley’s brother, Emma fails miserably at playing the role of a sophisticated lady.

Hartley is determined to ensure that the quirky and adorable woman marries his brother – despite his ever-growing attraction to her. After loving and losing, he refuses to fall prey to the shackles of love. But as his desire for Emma increases, he knows he must forfeit his happiness for his brother’s future. After all, there’s no such thing as happily ever after.

Or is there?

Not sure why I haven’t read this book before now. It has been in my collection for like forever (since 2017). If I could express this book in a few words is was awesome, thrilling, amazing, heart-wrenching and romantic. The way Emma speaks reminds me of Buffy from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Back then her way of speaking was so different that she totally stood out. This was the same for Emma. Loved her snark and sense of humor.

The whole concept of time travel has always fascinated me. Although I have never been the biggest fan of the Regency era, this book just did it for me on so many levels. The will they get together/ won’t they an the  fact that she could run away back to her own time period  had me hooked from the very beginning.

With all the buzz around Bridgeton and Outlander, this book should satisfy so many of those fans. This is right in their wheelhouse. I am not sure if there are more books in this series, but I would love to see more time travel romances from this author.

Definitely a first class book. Highly recommended.

If you like romance with a dash of paranormal and time travel, definitely check this one out. You won’t be disappointed.

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.
