4.5 Stars

This is the sixth book in the Harlequin Intrigue Colton’s of Mustang Valley series by Jane Godman.

In the beginning, I wasn’t sure if this whole relationship would work out. Spencer didn’t want kids and he just broke up with his girlfriend who wanted to start a family with him. Then in walks Katrina and her cute kiddo, Evie. Katrina is looking for her missing twin and her investigation gets her closer and closer to unmasking a killer.

Spencer gets sucked into the action but underneath it all he is just drawn to Katrina in a way he has never experienced before. And knowing she has a kid doesn’t affect him like he thought it would. But he still has trouble trusting and opening up.

For as short as this book is, there was sure a lot of going back and forth with motivations and trust from both of their perspectives. I was unsure whether they would ever find a common ground and find that underlying peace they were looking for.

I like how all the authors writing for this series consistently keep all the background set pieces so similar so we know for sure this is a Colton series in the Mustang Valley area. And that little cult/church group is just creepy as all get out.

I loved how the two of them finally opened up and allowed themselves to fall for each other and how their love for animals helped them to connect. Great book!

Love this Colton series. It is one of my guilty pleasure reads, for sure!

If you love a good romantic suspense, definitely check this one out. You won’t be disappointed.

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.
