Mister Black swept in and out of my life like a tornado, leaving me twisted up and forever changed in his wake.
And now that my life is finally back on track, I need to move on, despite the many reminders of our time together.
But our pasts are only as far away as the shadows we hide behind, and sometimes those shadows grow darker, converging on the present in the most insidious way.
He is Black: a stealthy hunter and rainbow master.
I am Red: a truth seeker and desire keeper.
Together we are obsession. Passionate colors destined to be drawn together.

This is the second book in the In the Shadows: Talia & Sebastian trilogy. It is set three years after their initial meeting at the masquerade ball. If possible, Sebastian is even more hardened than he was before. He is playing a role of Bash, temporary pilot for the Hawthorn Resort. There is a lot of information Sebastian keeps close to the vest and doesn’t even let the reader in on. He is a dominant lover and gives his partner a safe word to utter if things get too rough for them. He likes tying women up and giving them pleasure before he ever takes it for himself.
Someone is killing red heads and that fact doesn’t come up until over the half way point. But we do get to see when people are giving Talia drugged water or beer. You know something is up but you don’t know what it is or why.
They refer to “three years ago” a lot and that was when the masquerade ball happened. There is a weird plot discrepancy. First they reveal that Bash and Talia know about what happened three years ago. And then later, they act like they don’t know about three years ago. It was a little weird deja vu moment. As I was reading I thought, I know they have already revealed this to each other why is it coming up again? Other than that quirky plot weirdness, I thought this was good. The sex was intense and odd at the same time. I guess this would be considered mild bondage but I don’t know for sure. The sex scenes felt more like a reach for control than the actual sex act.
Fascinating book none the less. I am interested to see what happens now in book three.
The next book in the series is BLACKEST RED. It is available now.
I purchased this book with my own money.
