What a Cozy of a Season!

Wow! Has this been a great 

book reading season or what?

Kensington Books is just killing it in the area of cozy mysteries! They have such a variety of titles and I can’t count the number of cozy releases they’ve had from August through October. Sometimes it is more than one book reviewer can handle. Not to say I’m not reading my fair share. I just surpassed 300 read books this year. That is definitely a new record for me. I have been averaging around 41 books a month. Sometimes less, sometimes more.

I want to throw out a few of my favorites from this season.

Murder in the First Edition by Lauren Elliott

I am more in love with this series the more I read each new title. The most recent book was pretty angsty when a $60,000 first edition goes missing.

Death by Cafe Mocha by Alex Erickson

Love this series. I have read every book from book one. This is one of the first series I discovered when I started to review books for NetGalley.

Bakeshop at Pumpkin and Spice by Donna Kauffman, Kate Angell & Allyson Charles

I was wary picking up this book initially. Two books that looked very similar from their covers had burned me. But I was so happily surprised by this title. It was pure MAGIC. The first story has to be my total favorite. I am in love with Donna Kauffman’s writing. This one is a keeper, for sure.

Crypt Suzette by Maya Corrigan

This book was pure mood lighting. I can just hear all the spooky sound effects when I read it.  Despite that, this book is all about the characters and they sure draw you in.

Jealousy Filled Donuts by Ginger Bolton

That donut sparkler birthday cake/donut stack was quite a cool plot device. Really helps to make this book memorable.

Death by Jack-o-lantern by Alexis Morgan

Great red-herrings in this one. The plot really surprises you. Just when you think you know whodunit… Nope, not them!

Mulberry Mischief by Sharon Farrow

This may start out a little fuzzy but keep with it. This book is worth the read. The suspect pool is pretty large so take your time trying to figure this one out.

A sad goodbye to one of my favorite series: 

Mainely Needlepoint Series by Lea Wait. 

Wait passed away earlier this year and bookdom will not be the same without her and the Mainely Needlepointers. This was definitely a series I always looked forward to! I will miss her and her wonderful tales from Maine!
