Goodreads synopsis:
Self-made billionaire Nathan Trainor feels restless and disillusioned. His company may be thriving, but he can’t find a woman who sees him for more than his wealth. With his love life in the red, he meets two other billionaire bachelors at the ultra-exclusive Bellwether Club. The three of them make a wager of the heart: they must find women who love them for who they are, not their money.
Savvy office temp Chloe Russell is trying to scrape together the money she needs to support her grandmother. So when a flu epidemic strikes Trainor Electronics and she’s promoted to Nathan Trainor’s assistant, she jumps at the lucrative opportunity. But then Nathan himself falls ill, and he and Chloe must work from his penthouse while he recuperates. Before long, it’s clear there’s genuine heat between them, and it’s more than just a fever spike. Will Nathan win Chloe’s heart—and the bet? Or will their differences destroy any chance for love?

5 Stars
You know going into this that the bet CEO Nathan Trainor makes with his two buddies Luke Archer and Gavin Miller to find true love will explode in his face at some point. How can it not? The whole premise of the story is based around the bet.
Nathan doesn’t have a chance in hell of winning this bet but then in walks a temp to take over for his secretary with the flu. Her name is Chloe. She is Miss Efficient Extraordinary. On day one she makes edits to a colleagues proposal that are so stellar that he can’t get her off his mind. He knows she is a ringer. Then Nathan contracts the flu his secretary has. Chloe finds him the next morning slumped at his desk with a fever of 104 and totally out of it.
Apparently Mr. CEO has everyone on call at a moment’s notice, even his doctor best friend, Ben, who comes to Chloe’s aid. In his delirium, Nathan can only be consoled by Chloe and Dr. Ben asks her to stay. Chloe is in awe of the world Nathan lives in. It is so different than hers. He throws money at people as if that will solve all of the world’s problems and she struggles to save enough to eventually put her Grand Aunt Millie in a convalescent home.
It was interesting to watch the contrast and how quickly Chloe adapted to the new luxuries around her. But somehow she managed to stay solidly on Earth and holding on to her morals. Even so much so that she cuts ties with Nathan in order to take a job at his company to help finance her Great Aunt’s growing needs.
This was a great book. I needed a change of pace from some of the thrillers I had been reading. And this book was the perfect fit. I have already picked up the three other books in this series because, come on, you know they are going to be awesome too if this one is any indication of the author’s writing style.
If you want a guilty pleasure read, definitely pick this one up.
